McAuliffe's Pub) One of the pleasures of working at McAuliffe's Pub would be the opportunity it affords me to see acts I've never seen before. Such is the case again this night as I was treated to a double bill of alternative rock in the form of
All Envy Aside and
Abstract Thought. Abstract opened the evening with a racous set of alt-tunage. I must say, I was very impressed with these guys...well crafted songs, great playing and vocals. I was especially blown away by guitarist Ricky. The man can handle an axe. Featured was a very nice rendition of STP's "Interstate Love Song". All Envy Aside hit the stage running and turned in a very high energy set. They had my toes tapping, which really makes it hard to take photos, let me tell ya. Again, mostly well crafted originals, but I have to admit that the highlight for me was when they broke into "Satisfaction" by the Stones and singer Amanda Tvedt stepped into the crowd for an up close and personal vocal performance. All in all, a very fun night.
